Well, look what I got in my hot little hands: The Fredericks of Hollywood Rechargeable Silicone Vibrator. Are you getting into this late night sexy infomercial tease I’m trying to give you? 
If not, let’s awkwardly move on.
Design and Materials
The Rechargeable Silicone Vibrator from Fredericks of Hollywood is a dual density vibrator that features a cylindrical design with a slightly curved tip, 2-button function, has 10 functions of vibration, and is, of course, USB rechargeable. It is also splash-proof, comes with a large satin storage bag, and is “Ready to Wrap” with a customizable gift card, wrapping paper, decorative ribbon, and foil sticker. Because it does not have a flared base, I would personally not recommend it for anal play of any kind. Almost forget to mention that also has a travel lock feature to prevent accidental turn-ons during travel and storage.
What’s in a Name?
So, what gives Fredericks? “Rechargeable Silicone Vibrator” was the best name you could have come up with? I mean, don’t get me wrong. A basic ass name like that is great for SEO (search engine optimization). I would like a little more creativity when it came to naming these sex toys. I mean, they all have similar names. Very basic, bare-boned, and to the point. Can’t be mad at that since this makes their toys easy find and they are made with a lot of quality and thought in mind.
The Gift of Giving?
When it comes to the “Ready to Warp” materials that come inside of the box that lets you gift wrap the vibe if you plan on giving it as a gift, I personally find it unnecessary for them include such things. So instead of assuming that most people do what I would do when buying someone a gift, I’ll just tell you what I do. When I’m buying someone a gift, I would typically put it in a bag with some nice tissue paper or no tissue paper at all. In my mind, even if a gift is expected, it’s still mean to be a pleasant surprise. Not only that but while I understand that they are trying to spare you the expense on buying gift wrap, bags, and tissue paper, The box that the Fredericks of Hollywood vibe comes in has two tamper seals on either side of the box.
For those who don’t know, tamper seals are placed on packages that are meant to be hygienic so you know that the item inside wasn’t previously opened or “Tampered” with prior to it being placed in your hands. A sex toy is an item that should not be tampered with in any way by any other person other than who the toy is intended for or someone the gift receiver trusts. I know I’m getting all technical about gifting sex toys and tamper seals, but this is important. It would be kinda weird to give a sex toy someone as a gift only for them to discover that the package was opened before it was given to them. Wouldn’t you feel the same way? In Use
The Rechargeable Silicone Vibrator from Fredericks of Hollywood is one of those toys that I would associate with words and phrases things like “Fancy”, “Luxurious”, and a “Beginners upgrade”. I say all that because features things that make it of luxury but it’s also extremely easy to use. It’s kinda like a bigger better version of one of those cylindrical rounded/pointed tip battery-operated vibes that someone would walk into a sex shop and purchase as their first ever sex toy. This one is upgraded and fully loaded of course.
I think the biggest trend I have been seeing with luxury vibrators lately is that they have less than 4 buttons, are waterproof, have strong vibrations, and come with a built-in travel lock that I have quite frankly become more and more grateful for as my collection grows. I always go out of my way to make a big deal about any sex toy that comes with a travel lock for two reasons: Storage and travel. You see, when you have a sex toy that easily turns on with just a press of a button, it can both a beautiful and daunting thing at the same time. If you don’t live alone, you have to watch how you store or it will go bump in the night and everyone will hear it buzzing and wonder what the hell that is. Or if you’re going on a trip, you want to make sure that your suitcase doesn’t start moving by itself, if you catch my drift. Point is I love the travel lock on this vibe.
The overall design and look of the Fredericks of Hollywood Rechargeable Silicone Vibrator is very aesthetically pleasing. As it pertains to this model, it comes with 3 colors: Purple, Pink, and Black. I believe I was randomly sent purple as I didn’t give a color preference. The only time I do that is when a toy comes in aqua, a really nice blue or green, or if I think one color looks better than the other. In this case, I really like the purple. It’s deep and bright and the metallic detail is a nice touch.
The silicone is egregiously smooth and silky feeling to the touch. I don’t see any visible seams except for a faint thin line on the back of the insertable part of the toy that you can’t feel when in use. There are some slightly embedded grooves that are along either side of the insertable length that tapers the tip in. There’s this raised part in the middle which I am assuming is for additional internal stimulation. The silicone is dual density meaning there is a softer outer silicone draped over a firmer inner core. It’s squishy and moves around when you squeeze it firmly.
The Feelings and the Vibrations
Let’s start with that dual density silicone. Primarily I like to use vibes like this for thrusting. That raised piece in the middle, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It presses up against my g-spot nicely without being too intense. The slight curve also added to the stimulation. Sometimes I don’t want a toy to be so pronounced in the tip because it can be too intense internally, especially when I’m not craving intense internal stimulation in the form of something pushing up against my g-spot. I did find however that when I did want that intense internal stimulation, I could do two things: Angle it more towards my g-spot, thrown those vibrations, or a combination of the two. I rarely found myself feeling the need to change from one toy with another to get more internal stimulation.
You probably wondering whether or not I was able to feel a difference with the dual density silicone. The answer is no. It’s really squishy and doesn’t work against the body, but even with being so squishy, it still has a resistance. It’s just like a dual density dildo that even with that extremely squishy (say that a thousand times) silicone, it kinda still pushes back against you. Not a bad thing at all, but I feel like it’s more of a hand thing. I would describe it as one of those sand-filled stress balls. But with the firmer inner core of course.
Placement of the buttons is okay. Imagine holding a knife towards your stomach. Or don’t, because that might have been a bit too graphic of imagery. The vibe’s base fits into the hand and is comfortable to hold. I love that the On/Off button only functions as that and the activation/deactivation for the travel lock. The function button on the bottom is what you would use to cycle through the functions and I LOVE that it doesn’t remember the last function you were on from when it was last used. I personally think any vibrator with more than 5 (I think before I said it was 10?) vibration programs should not have a memory function. I personally like to start from the lowest intensity to the highest and maybe use the patterns.
As for the vibrations, I would describe them as buzzy but powerful. Buzzy vibrations have a bad rep because they can be annoying and weak. These are strong. If you have read some of my reviews in the past, I kinda have a thing for buzzy vibrations that are powerful because they have a plan. They’re going somewhere in life. Weak buzzy vibrations are listless. They have no depth to them. Which makes it difficult to enjoy them no matter what you want to use them for unless you’re someone who is extremely sensitive to stimulation. I will say that because there isn’t a ton of rumble to this vibe. So while the vibrations are quite pronounced and fast-paced, you’re not going to jackhammer vibrations when using it internally.
While the Fredericks of Hollywood Rechargeable Silicone Vibrator is meant to be used solely for internal stimulation, I wanted to get my moneys worth on it. I used it for clitoral stimulation and found that it could get me off. Internally, I like the vibrations. I’m that person that loves internal stimulation a lot more after having an orgasm because that’s when I’m more sensitive internally and find that I enjoy that type of stimulation a lot more that way. I thrust fast and hard and liked that the vibrations were gentle. When the vibrations are rumbly on a vibe, I tend to angle it towards my g-spot and wiggle it because it can be way too intense to thrust with, if that makes sense. I don’t think I mentioned this when I was talking about functionality, but that that haptic feedback from the buttons tho? Love it, darling.
Final Thoughts
I don’t really have any cons about this product because it’s pretty basic, yet has all the bells and whistles I would want in an ideal vibe. The biggest issue for those looking to purchase the Fredericks of Hollywood Rechargeable Silicone Vibrator is determining if the shape is right for you. If you’re into internal stimulation but not anything too intense, I recommend this one, if you’re someone looking for some serious g-spot stimulation, I recommend the Silicone G-Spot Vibrator or the Come Hither G-Spot Vibrator.
